The timeline is where you arrange the parts of your video in time. Each kind of content sits on its own track.
The timeline, with the toolbar above it and Captions, Text and Video tracks below, each holding clips

Tracks

Tracks are stacked in this order, from top to bottom:
  1. Captions
  2. Text
  3. Motion
  4. Video
  5. Audio
Tracks appear according to the content in your project, so not every project shows all five. The timeline expands as you add content, and you can scroll to reach tracks outside the current view. The project in the screenshot above uses captions, text and video, so its timeline shows those three tracks.

Add clips to the timeline

In the Media Library, click an item to add it at the playhead, or drag it onto the timeline to place it where you want. See Add media.

Edit clips

To change how a clip looks or behaves, select it and use its properties panel. See Clip properties.

Clip menus

Right-click a clip to see the actions available for it. The actions depend on the type of clip. Extract Audio is available on video clips only.

Timeline toolbar

Playback speed, zoom and Fit to Timeline are separate:
  • Playback speed changes how fast your video plays. It doesn’t change the timeline view.
  • Zoom changes how much of the timeline you see, so you can make precise edits.
  • Fit to Timeline fits all your timeline content into view in one step.
The timeline has no fullscreen mode. The icon that looks like a fullscreen button is Fit to Timeline. If you want more room, you can close the timeline instead.
Zoom in for precise trims and splits. Use Fit to Timeline to see all your content again.

Captions

To generate captions from your video’s speech, use Aura’s Transcribe action. See Aura AI assistant.
